chorégraphie Mette Ingvarsten

Who is familiar with Mette Ingvartsen’s research on sexuality and its political dimension won’t be surprised by her last show. With To come (extended), the Danish woman is going further in the work begun in 2005 with To come, a show on how to reinvent desire.
7 Pleasures performed last year at the phénix was performed by 12 naked dancers in search of pleasure, forming a vibrating organic matter whose outline is blurry. In To come (extended), the 15 dancers wear a blue close-fitting suit making slow lascivious movements even more sensual. Mette Ingvartsen explores the idea of sexual freedom in a society who turned pleasure into a kind of achievement in itself, confusing even more the limits between public and private life. On stage, the anonymous bodies are rubbing each other and tangling. Groups are forming and parting and social structures are collapsing. A daring and stimulating experience never vulgar.

Every year, the ECH works in partnership with internationally recognized artists. In doing so, artists from the ECH Campus itself are benefiting form international attention in a wide circulation system. Mette Ingvartsen is supported by the Centre Culturel Buda within the framework of the NEXT festival. The choreographer’s show To come (extended) will be her second one. Last February, she was already welcomed at the phénix with 7 pleasures, a wonderful show.
