concept Encyclopédie de la parole
direction Emmanuelle Lafon
composition Joris Lacoste

With blablabla, Joris Lacoste and Emmanuelle Lafon perform for the very first time a version of the Encyclopedia of speech suitable for children. Made with various recordings, this solo performed by an actress, musician and dancer is also suitable for adults.
Hundreds of words from various origins are spoken by a single person. Mixed together, they form a play suitable for both adults and children. Blablabla is faithful to the prosody of words. The chief conductor invites us on the TGV n° 1456, a robot identifies itself, a sports commentator tells the players’ names, Yannis explains the rules of police-thieves, a YouTuber strikes up a fight, the photo booth’s voice explains the instructions, a rap artist performs, the queen of heart wants to cut heads off, Radouane cracks up… What is left of the meaning of words when they’re taken out from their context ? Do they become a kind of sound material ? What do we understand about the power they exert on us ? Arielle Dousset, actress musician and dancer plays with the recorded collection. With her voice and body, she embodies many characters and situations both mundane and enchanting.

Joris Lacoste is a true international French artist. His success is the result of a long career. He is now a recognized artist in many countries, however his company’s structuring remains fragile. With his independent company Échelle 1:1 and the production company Ligne Directe managed by Judith Martin, the European creative hub has decided to promote his artistic approach during the new coming season. The objective is to strengthen the international dimension of his cooperative project alongside Guy Cassiers and Mette Ingvartsen. Suite n°3 has been produced on an international scale. It has been made possible thanks to the support of the Brussels Kunstenfestivaldesarts, the Théâtre de la Ville in Paris, the Paris Autumn festival, the Comédie de Reims, the Sao Luiz Teatro, the Lisbon Alkantara festival, the Théâtre Garonne in Toulouse, the Baltoscandal Raker festival and the Apostrophe theatre in Cergy. Le phénix is also involved in producing his project Suite n°3. It will be presented in a double-bill with the children’s show blablabla during the NEXT festival.
